Transferring Podcast Episodes to an iPod
Each time you sync (connect) your iPod to your computer via the USB port, an iPod
management screen will appear. Click the Podcasts tab, as shown in Figure 7.

Here, you’ll find several configurations from which to choose. Selecting “Sync all
episodes of all podcasts" will transfer every episode of every podcast to your iPod each
time you connect your iPod to your computer. You may also select which specific
podcasts will automatically transfer to your iPod upon syncing. Additional update
adjustments may be made by selecting alternative options from the pulldown menu.
It may not be a good idea to configure your iPod with the "all unplayed episodes" syncing
option selected. This is because iTunes considers an episode as having been played
even if you’ve played only a few seconds of that episode. Consequently, the next time
you sync your iPod, the episode will vanish from both iTunes and your iPod. Thus,
selecting "3 most recent" or more in the pulldown menu should give you ample
opportunity to finish older episodes.
Transferring Episodes to non-iPod Players
Normally, iTunes can only sync with iPods and iPhones. However, there are ways to get
around this limitation. If you’re a Mac user who has an iRiver, Creative Zen or other such
player, you can download SyncTunes (Free, Mac, www.nesfield.co.uk/synctunes/), an
application that copies tracks and podcasts from iTunes to a mounted volume (e.g. such
